ScRaP SiStaZ - Challenge 24

Holy Toledo, Batman!  I am current with the Challenges... and the MESS in my scrapbook room proves it! LOL!

I almost forgot how much I love scrapbooking.  It is very therapeutic for me.  I get in a zone and forget about the rest of life's stresses. It's a great creative outlet... and a great stress reliever. I realize I have to make time to get in my room and get messy or it just won't happen. If I wait until all of life's responsibilities are caught up (like I have been doing for the last year) it will never happen. So, I'm trying to make a date with myself no less than once every two weeks (I am hopeful it will happen more often) to do some paper cutting, photo printing, tape running, and memory reminiscing and documenting... I hope more of you will join me!  Get these Challenges started... I promise it will bring back your scrapbooking Mo-Jo!!

Challenge 24 is below! Let's get into the spirit of the holidays! Due Monday, November 7!

We all have a million Christmas photos locked away that are screaming, "Get me out of these boxes or off of this computer!"  I really like this two-page spread... particularly that large 10x10ish picture on the left. Pick out one of your favorite Christmas photos, upload it to your favorite photo developer, choose 10x10 or 11x11, and wah-la (or should I say Fa-la-la-la-la)! The left side of your layout is done!

Let's get it done, ladies!  Oh, and don't forget to check out the new linked masterpieces in the two previous Challenge's comments... ahem... they are mine. LOL!)  Happy Scrapbooking!

ScRaP SisTaZ - Challenge 23

Happy October, SiStaZ!

How about this weather?! Those Lions?! Those Tigers?!  All are amazing me right now!  It's amazing how nice weather and winning sport teams can put positive energy into the air... everywhere!!  There is definitely a buzz at my workplace... there must be at yours, too, whether it is a formal job or your job at "home". I'm sure there is a buzz among your children and definitely with your significant other!

Anywhoo... on to the Scrapbook Challenge... a big rock star high-five goes out to Chris!! She is the only one who finished her page on time! Not only did she finish her page, she created and learned how to blog!! Go, Chris! So proud of you!  Be sure to check out her page on Challenge 22.  I hope to be the next who is finished... are any of you frantically working on yours, too? I am about half-way through my Challenge 22 creation.  I'm scrapping pictures that have been on my counter for, oh, I don't know, three months!  Feels good to be working with them... they are some of my recent favorites! Should be able to finish up and post no later than tomorrow. Yay!

Here is Challenge 23:

What caught my eye on this page?  The journaling.  It immediately reminded me of the woman who blogged or did a video series (can't remember which) wherein she shared the importance of, and her commitment to, creating pages with letters to her children.  Heath? Aim? Kim? Can you help me out?  A link, maybe?  We all read/watched her presentation. I believe she shared her mother had passed when she was young and she have very few mementos to remember her, which is why she shared the importance of "writing to your children."  This layout reminded me of her lesson.  So, all of you moms out there... sit down, write a letter to your child(ren). It can be a simple message or life advice you'd like to share.  How about a story from your childhood? A favorite memory of them? Or something cute or funny they have done recently? Heath, you should have several stories to record... especially from the O-ster! Don't be afraid to add more than one picture... tell the "picture" story behind your journaling, if possible. Or keep it simple.  Whatever works for you. Just write your little (or big) girl/guys a letter!  Can't wait to smile, giggle, or wipe a tear after reading your great journaling!

Get scrapping!

ScRaP SiStaZ Challenge 22

Nice start, ladies! So far three of us completed Challenge 21. I feeeelll more layouts being done as I type. :)  Don't forget to upload your layout to your blog and link it in the comments section, so we can all look at it and ooooohhhh and ahhhhhh!

Here's the next Challenge.  Sticking with simplicity... two page 12x12 layout.

This layout is about a cute little guy losing his first tooth. I know each of you have pictures of your child(ren) with their first missing tooth, so this would be a great layout to document that monumental event.  Personally, I'd put pictures in those middle squares and embellishments down there at the bottom, but that's just me.  I particularly like the title... the actual documentation of years, months, and days.  My take.... I'm thinking of documenting a simple ritual that Derek and I do... watching movies on the couch in our bedroom... happy hour at the Creek... something like that and then using the years, months, days title idea to represent how long we've been married...  you could use this format for any of your child's events... pics from his or her sporting event and documenting their age.... a vacation you took with your significant other (again, documenting how long you've been married or since you started dating)....  could document other loved ones' relationship... a snapshot of your parents at a special date in time... wedding pics... enough rambling. You get the idea. Can't wait to see what you create! Have fun!

ScRaP SistaZ Challenge 21

Hello my long lost SiStaz! Welcome to the next round of scrap challenges in hope of getting your scrapbooking mojo fired up again!  Kids are back to school, families are back to routines....... and everyone is as busy as ever!  That said, we are going to start off sllllooooowly. One simple page.  This is on purpose. It's doable sometime in the next two weeks.  It'll give you a chance to dust off your tape runners, sharpen your trimmers, get some pictures developed...

Heerrreeeeeeeeee weeeeeeeeeeeeee goooooooooooooooo....................................

My take.... for those of you with more than one child you could change the picture template to add two, three, or four pics with snippets next to each pic.... you could turn this into a "husband" page (let's be honest, we have all been married a while and don't really highlight our love for that guy who sleeps next to us each night nearly enough... or at least we don't document it!)... could be a pet page... let the kids write the journaling or scribe it to you.... or this page could be about an inanimate object.... I know I could put a picture of my iPad on this layout... or my 32" monitor in my scrapbook room... or my H3 that gets me up and down our driveway safely in the winter... or a picture that I snapped during one of my snow days last year.  My mind is just-a-whirling!  Oh, one more idea... get those Cricuts fired up... what a great tool to help you with that title!!

Alright, deadline is Monday, September 26.  As a reminder, upload your layout to your blog and then (this is a little change) link it to this post in the comments section.

Welcome Back, SiStaZ!  Happy to see you!

ScRaP SiStaZ Challenge 19

Hope you have a great decision (just kidding!) that you can journal about... or you can use this as "sketch" template for another topic. It's a pretty simple design that looks complex. I really like that there are 5 pictures on this one page layout and the hand journaling. I think we've all accepted the fact that we need to hand journal, so not a new concept... but a good reminder!

On another note, I have "parts" to a layout that I'm working on laying next to me on the table, so off the computer to actually COMPLETE a layout... there's a concept! :) Happy Scrapping, my sistas... what a perfect night to be scrapping... it's rainy, cold, and dark out... fall has arrived! XO!

ScRaP SiStaZ Challenge 18

Hello, ladies! Can't believe it has been almost FOUR months since the last challenge! I hope this finds you happy while reflecting upon your summer fun! I hope we have a few more weeks of warm weather before the crisp fall air arrives and the time for fabulous fall memories begin! In an effort to get back into the swing of things and attempt to avoid an overwhelming feeling we are going to start with only ONE challenge every TWO weeks until after Christmas. Then, we'll pick up on the TWO challenges (either every or every other week... we'll determine that when the time comes) at the start of the New Year... when everyone seems to be nestled in their homes for a cold winter's season. Another change is that I'm not going to link each person's challenge here (maybe once I finish school next spring...), but I HIGHLY encourage you to follow Kim and Amy's lead and link your personal challenge completions on the side of your blog. I plan to do that, too!

I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful creations.... oh, STILL leave a note here that your layout is done! :)

CHALLENGE 18

Note: Pretty straight forward... pull out several of those pictures that represent a relationship in your family... could be sisters, friends, family, etc.
